I met my wife, Virginia, in New York in 1989; we were married that same year. We then moved to Acworth, Georgia, in 1990 and we lived there thirteen years before relocating in 2002 to our present location in Jasper. Prior to meeting my wife, I had lived a very ungodly life. Because of her great faith and love for God, she made a positive influence on my life. In 1997, we went to a small storefront church in Acworth and I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit so strongly that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. We also joined that little church right on the spot! Crossroads Community Church is still our home church and Pastor Bob Goodner is our spiritual leader. I became head usher at Crossroads for many years and have participated in a variety of activities including Health Fairs, Easter pageants and their Tuesday night “Kids Bible Club”. This latter is an outreach activity for disadvantaged children who live in the surrounding community to give them a solid spiritual foundation. My wife and I also sponsor children through World Vision and Mission of Mercy. In 2002, God called me to purchase some land in order to do a ministry for Him. At that time, I had owned my own hardwood flooring business for five years. The only money we had was about $4,000 we had saved for retirement! Through word of mouth, I learned about a piece of property available in Jasper. I called the listing agent and she described the fifteen (15) acres as one of the nicest pieces of property she had listed. She also indicated that the two houses were in real rough condition and that they should probably be given to the fire department for burn practice! After nine months of prayers, the financing went through and we purchased the property. God has blessed us with strong backs and many helping hands, and through his Power this is what we have accomplished to date: Main House: New siding, window replacements, new electric, new heating and air, complete main floor remodel, hardwood floor, complete new kitchen remodel (cabinets, appliances, etc), tile bath and shower, and paint inside and out. Bunk House: New siding, foundation work, hardwood floors, tile bathroom and shower, chimney repairs, gas heat, paint inside and out, and currently kitchen remodel in progress. Small red barn—Converted Cabin: Insulated, concrete floor, interior with wood siding, electric, stair-ladder to loft. • October 2004: Had driveway graded with fourteen tandem truck loads of gravel. We also removed much debris to create a large lawn area near the main house. • November 2004: Holy Spirit Ranch is incorporated as a domestic non-profit corporation. • December 2004: God gave me the detailed plans for Holy Spirit Ranch. • July 2005: First camp of 30 children from Kids Bible Club. • August 2005: Filed 501C-3 • October 2005: Completion of Administration Building Over the past two and a half years, we have removed over 35,000 pounds of junk and debris from the property. We currently have a very viable property with two restored houses, a small cabin, a good gravel driveway, and twenty three beautiful acres sitting on Champion Creek. • December 2005: Installed 4-board fencing for a horse paddock. Holy Spirit Ranch has been given its first horse – a very handsome quarter horse named “Goldie”. • January 2006: Purchased eight and one half acres that is adjacent to Holy Spirit Ranch. This beautiful property has great views of Sharp Top Mountain and Burnt Mountain. The property is a wonderful building site for our praise & worship center, cafeteria, and kitchen. • April 2006: Cleared many dead pine trees from property and installed more fencing for horse pasture. • May 2006: Constructing 36’ x 39’ six stall horse barn. Summer of 2006: First horse arrived “Goldie”. Cleared land for next 15 bed/3 bath cabin with a septic system. Built benches for prayer garden on 8 ½ ridge. God truly blessed us all this summer. About twelve (12) children accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior at Holy Spirit Ranch. • May 2007: We held a very successful 9 hour concert at Lee Newton Park in Jasper, Georgia. During that time 3 people accepted Jesus. • May 2007: Built the cooking pavilion and dining patio. • June 2007: Built two additional full bathrooms.
